People talk about how the major online platforms compare. That the big three: Google, YouTube, and Facebook are behemoths that dominate the media landscape.
But how do they really compare? I came across this interesting post that shows the Internet in real time.
- You get to see Facebook’s domination with “Likes”. Or YouTube with “Video Views”.
- You notice that Uber delivers 10 times as many rides as Lyft.
- Google vs Bing? 3:2 ratio…Yahoo…10% of Google’s searches.
- Square beats Apple Pay.
- Netflix and Amazon Prime are neck and neck in content spending. Hulu is 20% of those leaders. But HBO beats them both by almost 50%.
Recognizing that in each market typically there is one to two dominating leaders, and the others will either have to specialize in a shoulder niche or will eventually go away, you’ll want to be going with the winners if you want the best experience and consistency over time.
So check it out and see what else you might glean from the ever-changing numbers.
Enjoy!
