Enroll in an online course
Online courses are a great way to get a feel for the new career that you think you want to do. By enrolling in a course you will get a better understanding of that professionalism as well as a professional qualification that will help you get a job. It may be that you go to the lessons and realize you don’t like it, or it could be the opposite and you think you will love it even more. There are a whole plethora of online courses that you can sign up for, whether that be a finance course or a personal training qualification.
Volunteer within your spare time
On the weekends or in the evenings could you volunteer within the industry you are thinking of changing to? This gives you some experience within it as well as an understanding of if you will enjoy working there full time. Not only that but if you are successful there is a possibility that they will hire you due to your good work. Most companies will be happy to offer you a shift or two on the weekend as it helps them but also benefits you. It could be that you want to be an accountant and by volunteering you realize you love it.
Speak To An Expert If You Are Not Sure On What You Want To Do
For some people, it can be the case that you want to change careers but you are not sure what career you want to change to. This can be stressful and leave people staying in their current job for longer than they want to, feeling unhappy. If this is how you feel then it could be worth speaking to an expert as they will be able to help give you some advice on what career may be best for you. Many careers have skills that cross over to other industries meaning an expert can find these crossovers and give you that support.
Work within a similar field but within a different department
As touched upon above, certain skills are relevant for multiple areas. For example, if you are a salesperson, then a similar skill set could be used with the customer service department. If you are a sports coach, then teaching could be something you look into. The same could be applied within an industry field as you will have good knowledge about that industry. If you work within the sales team of a travel department then your knowledge of travel will help you land a job but within a different department.
